Summary:
....I think this was the best machine for the job i need it to do and i love the way it handles. this will scale concrete if i asked it to. I am a large man and it will through you off balance if your not careful. you will need sound and face protection. I use stihls chainsaw hard hat with sheald and earmuffs. Dont short change yourself and get a lesser model, some overkill can still win the war. If time is important, this stihl Br600 will get the job done in no time .
Strengths:
....I purchased this machine to move snow from a 500 ft board walk. That I was sure would be damaged by a snowthrower. I have been able to pulverize the snow and move very quickly, through light snow up to 5 in, with ease. The sound is well below that of most string trimmers, and am able to talk over the machine when in idle speed. So far this machine will scale away most foot prints from the side walk and leave very little trace of snow. The gas tank has a very good tank top and does not leak at all, so you get no smell of fuel, Very good.
Weaknesses:
...I have used this machine almost exclusively in very cold weather, Last week -16 below. A conventional leaf blower is used in moderate weather or temps. when i use the br600 I am wearing a large coat a small pullover jacket wool shirt and quilted thermals. This makes putting on the back pack very hard and the strapps get tangled easly. Stihl should talk to some one about the ease of donning the backpack in full gear. Its also very hard to see the carb settings on the out side of the machine when it is early Morning , low light. The straps for the back pack have a loop to put your finger in to to adjust for comfort and fit, all well and good except when you have the back pack on you cant see the loops and they lay quite flat, so you have to remove your gloves to adjust the strapps.
