Summary:

Strengths:
After my wild thing was ripped off I bought this POS w/ insurance money. My observations: another overgovernmental regulated POS. Govt assumes populace is too dumb to tune the carb, therefore the carb tuning screws that are not standard ie need special tool. spark plug is 3/4 or some wierd metric deep socket. pull rope sticks. top cover requires torx head or deep standard slotted. small chain size and bar cause were too dumb to run a saw. I have a 30 yr old 10" Poulan still going w/ none of this crap. If I had to do it over again I wouldnt have bought it. Had to bust plastic to tune it right. I live in the boonies and gas is too much to have some goon rip me off.

Summary:
Have used saw to cut enough wood to heat my 2.5 car garage for 4 Chicago area winters with minimal maintenance. Am only now having problems which a good carb cleaning should fix. 18" bar works with this saw, but just enough. A shorter bar perks this dude up and reduces strain on engine.

Strengths:
Has been a pretty good running and starting saw. When cold 2-3 pulls on choke til it coughs then choke off and 1-2 pulls. Mostly first pull when warm! I like the balance/ low weight. For smaller limb work I like to swap in a 14" bar that I had on an old saw and watch the chips FLY!!

Weaknesses:
Recently will run 30 sec and die. Put in new spark plug and runs 45 sec-am figuring carb/fuel problem now. ViBrAtIoN!! Wear padded gloves to reduce tingling hand at end of day. Stock chain dulls quickly. Replacement Oregon blades hold edge longer. When dull cut will curve to left. Gas and oil caps lack tethers and are sometimes difficult to put on.

Summary:
I bought this saw from Lowes about 10 yrs ago and I've noticed the newer models are different while I am now looking for a larger saw. Seems like they screwed up a good thing.. or 'wild thing' I should say. I've used to drop about 40-50 small pines and cut firewood for occasional use. If you can find the old version like I have, I'd certainly buy another.

Strengths:
Starts everytime: prime/choke, two pulls, push in choke, 2 pulls.. fires right up. Runs on year old gas, no problems.

Weaknesses:
Has tough time with larger logs but it's not meant to be lumber jack saw.

Summary:
SAW IS GOOD FOR WHAT I DO ON THIS SMALL FARM. SATISFIED WITH SAW AFTER IT RESPONDED SO WELL TO THE SYN. 2 STROKE OIL.

Strengths:
AFTER EXPERIMENTING WITH SEVERAL BRANDS OF 2 STROKE OIL ,I FOUND THAT A HIGH END SYNTHETIC MIXED AT 80:1 MADE THE SAW EASY TO START,NO SMOKE AND MUCH MORE POWER.CUTS AS WELL AS A $500 SAW-AT LEAST FOR ME.WON'T GO BACK TO MINERAL OIL . A DECENT SAW FOR THE MONEY.THIS ONE WAS PURCHASED ONLINE AS A REFURBISHED UNIT.

Weaknesses:
BAR OIL LEAKED WITH ENGINE OFF.FIXED IT BY ADDING STP OIL ADDITIVE(VERY THICK) TO BAR OIL TANK.THIS IS A RECENT PURCHASE .I AM SOMEWHAT SKEPTICAL ABOUT THIS SAWS SERVICE LIFE,BUT IF IT FAILS I'LL GET ANOTHER.NEEDS A SPECIAL TOOL TO ADJUST CARB LOW/HIGH SPEED MIXTURE,LOCAL SHOPS DON'T SELL TOOL.

Summary:
I like my saw now.before switching to syntheic oil the power was lacking. Now using syn. at 80:1 it has the power of a $500 saw.I don't sell oil.Don't forget to do the easy break-in.

Strengths:
These lower cost saws require an easy break-in. If this is done the saws life will be extended. after the run in was complete I switched to amsoil at 80:1 mix. THis allowsthe saw to get more fuel and it starts easy and has much more power on the synthetic. use stp oil treatment in the bar oil tank if your leaks bar oil when sitting.

Weaknesses:
requires special tool for carb. tuning. The tool is hard to find.

Summary:
like the saw.Good for the money as I won't pay $500 for any saw

Strengths:
A good saw for the money and cuts faster with a 16" bar.

Weaknesses:
My saw was refurbished and purchased online. Ignition module failed soon after purchase. Replaced with online module.Later saw became difficult to start.Replaced spark plug with a Champion CJ8.Saw now start/runs like a high price model.May have been shipped with wrong type of spark plug. thinking about purchasing a second 'wildthing' for the spare parts.
