Summary:
I bought this saw (first chainsaw) after reading several reviews. Husqvarna is more expensive than Craftsman and Poulan for example but well worth the extra money. There are lots of features that make them better than lower cost saws, automatic oiler, vibration control, etc. easy chain tensioning, etc. I went with this smaller version Husky since it was my first one and wanted something that I would be able to control and out muscle if needed - I was leary about kickback etc. again, new to chainsaws. I cut about 20 face cord (16"x4'x8') of mostly softwood (various varieties of pine ranging from 10" to 16" dia) and 4 smaller oak trees (ranging from 8 to 14" diameter) I have not had any issues starting or poor running. I highly recommend this saw although it is discontinued and replaced with screnchless versions with lower cc's. I didn't compare the Hp to the newer version however. Sear's still carries the 142 so if you want one you best act fast before they are all gone.
Strengths:
Light weight, easy to use, cuts well.
Weaknesses:
Light on power for large diameter cuts. You need to finesse it through deep cuts and plan the cuts well to avoid bar pinching. This is just good practice (technique) anyway.

Summary:
A really good yard clean up and small felling saw, which is exactly what it's aimed at. Far better build quality than it's marginally lesser priced competitors. A few comment on difficult starting but the manual explains it perfectly and it works. Very happy to have a quality name saw.
Strengths:
Easy to start, does not have a primer so a couple of pulls on full choke till it fires, then half choke and it fires up every time. Lightweight. It seems to be well built. Air injection really works well at keeping air filter cleaner for longer. Plenty of dealer for my are if I need parts.
Weaknesses:
It has a constant flow oiler so it's best to pause occassionally to let the bar oil catch up. Fiddly to get to air cleaner but it needs doing less so a non issue really. It's not marketed as a big (14 inch plus) felling saw but it will go there if you take your time. You will find it's performance limits otherwise.

Summary:
I would own two or three of them if they came a with bigger bar selection. If i was to rate this saw 4.75 out of 5...
Strengths:
I have had no problems with this saw and out runs any other saw it is class. I put a 18" bar on it and hasn't slowed it down none. I have had this saw for 2 yrs. and still runs great. I have cut a lot of large trees with it out performs a poulan and sears saw any day.
Weaknesses:
It is a hard starting saw at first but after that it runs like a beaver on a tree.

Summary:
It is a good saw for home use. Lot of power for firewood cutting.
It starts pretty well (2nd or 3rd pull) depending on the weather.
I have to addmit that it was very good for me but now I would buy a bigger one.
Strengths:
I cut with it many cubic meters of beech, hornbeam, fir, red oak, accacia, cherry and apple trees. I could never stop it in 1yr+few mths whatever dia the log had. It has 2.6hp and it cuts very fast (if the chain is well sharpened). I even used it for 1m high stock cuts using a horse similar to Oregon's one.
I'm very happy with the power it has - is more than enough for firewood cutting.
Weaknesses:
1. The heat shield plate assembled above the muffler will come loose whatever glue you will use;
2. Because it's a hobby/homeuser chainsaw it needs 3-4 30-60seconds breaks every each fill;
3. I had a problem once: it stopped after a few seconds of running - I suspect the gas; I also had to retune the carburator once.

Summary:
I laugh at some of you who talk about how much better this is than a Poulan when it is a REBADGED Poulan painted like a husky. It's the SAME SAW AS A POULAN. Husky Owns Poulan. If you want a real Husky go to an independant dealer Not LOWES.
I fell for the hype and when the owner of my local husky dealer showed me my saw (in for service after 6 months) and the poulan he had in the shop that was identical, I traded for a swedish made Husky.
Strengths:
Decent saw
Weaknesses:
Paying for the name. It's really a Poulan
