Overall it is a well balenced machine and price right

Strengths:
The Machine came withthe power steering triggers that work very nice. So nice even the wife and use this machine.

Weaknesses:
5hp/208cc seems a bit low for New England however it will surprise you for sure. Cast snow at least 15ft with ease.

awsome machine for the price I have used the crap out of this thing the last 3 years and has held up well have gone threw 15 inch drifts and it does great for only a 5.5 hp machine

Summary:
This is my second snow blower. I don't plan on buying another one. This one had to be everything I could want. Did extensive research comparing all features at different price points to other popular, and highly promoted, brands, and the Cub Cadet 524SWE came out on top in every way for the price. I have not been disappointed in the least with my purchase. Can't wait for the next snow so I can go play with my Cub Cadet.

Strengths:
Purchased in October 2008 Has the most features for the size and price. Storage is always an issue so this one was just the right size. Plenty of power to throw snow even in Chicago. Needed something to get through what the city plows left in front of the driveway. The lowest gear pushes this baby through almost anything. I was afraid of buying something that only had a pull start in Chicago minus temps so I also wanted the electric start feature, but have not had to use it. So far it starts with one pull. The steering triggers are such a wonderful feature and make doing my 50 foot driveway go fast.

Weaknesses:
Its all about speed and power. So far this engine has done just fine. The engine should be bigger just to give me greater confidence in our 12 inch plus snows.

Summary:
It will be great a unit when I figure out the cure for surging.

Strengths:
Bought 2007. Starts right up. Runs great under load. Steering triggers are great.

Weaknesses:
Engine surges before and after warm up. The less choke used the more it surges. No carb adjustments. I've had carb off which is no easy chore and found no trash etc inside. Run 1/4 choke after warm-up and most surging goes away, but will not pull under load as well. Must be jetted for sea level and I'm in Colorado. I bought it new in colorado.

BOY I FEEL THIS WAS THE BEST THING I EVER DID I HAD A CRAFTSMAN BEFORE, THAT WAS ABOOUT 5 YEARS OLD AND NOTHING BUT A HEADACHE SPENT MORE TIME IN FOR REPAIR THAN IN MY GARAGE. I BOUGHT A LAWN MOWER FROM VAN AKEN HARDWARE AND WHEN I SAW THEY HAD THE CUB CADET I HAD TO BUY FROM THEM "SAME PRICE AS THE BIG BOXES" AND GREAT SERVICE FREE SET UP AND DELIVERY WHAT A PLEASURE TO OWN

easy to turn great price great dealer the service has been great not that i needed any repair work but the reminder fromm the dealer to tune up and change the oil sure was nice

Overall I would suggest you get one that can be easily serviced. I would now pay more for that. Tractor Supply does not service these
