Owned saw for 1 1/2 years. Have not cut a 1 whole cord with it. Has been in the shop 5 time. Twice for the auto-oiler and 3 times for leaking oil tank. Starts very hard even after a tune up. This saw is made by MDT for Sears and Stihl. Both have been a huge problem. I do not shop at Sears anymore because of this saw.

I have had 20 chain saw craftsman for 3 years, I have had nothing but problems with it, not to mention very poor results when callonh their repair and parts number, it will take hour after hour or days trying to get answers to a problem , I believe sears may sell inferior products just to build their repair business

Have owned the saw for 3yrs. now and the auto bar oiler has failed, but will still leak oil from where it is supposed to be oiling the bar.?. There is oil in the clear tubes that I can get to, but doesn't move. Oiler has been diminishing for about a year now and adjustment screw doesn't help...Chain is basically dry now. Was gearing up to start cutting down many mountain Pine Beetle kill trees here in Montana, but guess I'm going to have to look for a more reliable Stihl or equivalent. This is my second Craftsman in just over 4 yrs. (First was the 42cc-18" which I got a full refund on and applied to this saw after trying to run it for just over a year (was in the shop 3+ times)).

I like this saw, but then again, I don't use it too much. When I do use it, I put gas in and it starts with in one or two pulls.

Strengths:
Started easy, ran smooth, strong saw. The saw has been sitting for almost two years now and I just borrowed it to someone to do a complete tree. It started with in 2 pulls, and ran well for them.

Weaknesses:
Haven't used it enough to notice. Unlike others on here, I have yet to have any "auto oiler" problems yet. I did have some problems with it when I first got it in 2002, but I don't remember what they were. I do, however, remember that the customer service involved with this saw when I tried to get it fixed was HORRIBLE!

Cheap price of $199. Other than throwing lots of chains off of its bar, it seems to be fairly reliable.

Extremely awkward, heavy and poor handling saw with poor ergonomics and poor balance. This Made in Taiwan, Jenn Feng, gas-hog will tire you out and kill your back. Sears does not offer local service. Sears closed down all of its local service centers. Difficult and almost impossible to work on this saw. Poor performance and low power for a 55cc chainsaw.

Summary:
Very heavy. Cheap. Would not buy anonther incredi[bull] starting saw. Replaced with a conventional starting saw.

Strengths:
Seemed powerfull enough and started ok untill the starter gave out. Metal sprocket cover.

Weaknesses:
The incredi-pull starter mechanism has an unusual non-positive action. It depends on a main spring to provide turning effort, and a second spring to retract the cord. The main starter spring on mine snapped after a year of light use. Air filter roughly made but seems to work ok. Backup parts not easily available in New Zealand and difficult elsewhere apparently.

Summary:
Overall I hate this thing spend equal time working on it and using it sears should be ashamed offering a product like this.

Haven't found them yet. My old 20 Craftsman was a work horse that is why I bought this new one.

The first one the pull cord broke on the first day. They gave me a new saw, Great I thought. The second one lasted one whole day and the idle went crazy. It would stall every time you let off the gas. Called service they said bring it in. (one hour drive) They kept it 12 days and didn't fix the problem at all. Today they gave me my third saw. So far I have one hour and it is working fine

was cutting a pecan tree(with brand new chain) along side my grandfather a while back...this literally couldn't cut it. I was having to force the saw so much it was dangerous. Anyways, grandpa(80) breaks out his 16' sthil and begins cutting the same log with no effort...one-handed just to show off. he bought the saw in 1988, while mine was hardly used. Craftsman is definatly not what it used to be...they'd go under if they still did lifetime warranties.

the chain #36120 must be used to have it cut unfortunaly sears has dis-continued that chain and have replaced it with a cheaper chain that does not cut

donot tighten to much the 2 studs holding the bar they will break off just tighten to about 100flbs

Next chainsaw will NOT be from this brand. Spend more time maintaining than cutting some days and the help/back up useless. When it runs it is a good saw but not worth the frustration.

Impossible to keep tension on chain correct. Retaining nuts for bar need anti vibration washers, tensioning screw in an awkward position. Forever having to correct small faults-Chain brake handle vibrates loose, auto oiler rubbish......

Purchased on 9/23/2006 at the Sears store at VA Center Commons in Richmond, VA Used two times shortly after purchase to clean up storm debris. Took saw in to Sears for a tuneup and to repair the leak(s). After two weeks Sears contacted me to state that they could not repair the saw for lack of parts. This is not the Sears of yesteryear when Craftsman parts and tools were guaranteed for a lifetime. No offer was made to exchange, replace, or refund the price of the saw. Sears has gone to hell in a hand basket.

Strengths:
20" bar. 55cc engine. Price, ( that should have been my 1st clue that this was a piece of crap).

Weaknesses:
Leaks like a sive. I put newspaper in the carrying case to catch some of the leaking oil. Chain oiler doesn't work properly.

Summary:
We will not be buying anything else from Sears. I plan on taking the saws back until we either no longer have this problem or they do something else in the way of exchange or refund. (We are so glad we bought the extended warranty.) We have bought many, many, items over the years from Sears, including refrigerators, stoves, other chain saws, tools, clothing, ect, but no more until this issue is handeled properly.

Strengths:
The saw starts real easy and has plenty of power.

Weaknesses:
I'm on my third saw. The first two kept throwing the chain and after putting the chain back on about three times, the brake housing would not go back on. The brake band would not go back around the bell houseing on the drive sprocket. The band was too tight. We have the extended warranty, and they exchange us a new saw, when it is in stock. I look for this saw (third one) to give the same problem. My wife ask for a refund but they said no, that it has been more than 90 days (it is right around 90 days) so she ask if we could exchange for another saw that they carry, but they gave the 90 days as an excuse here also.
